Wellbeing volunteer opportunities for employees

Whether you’re new to volunteering or already passionate about employee wellbeing, there’s a place for you here.

Being a wellbeing volunteer can take many forms. There are several ways to get involved, and we believe in the power of online volunteering for employees. Our Peer+ Volunteering Programme is a flexible way to help others without big, rigid commitments.

You can support our global community by lending a listening ear as a Buddy from home, the office, or even from your morning commute - wherever you feel comfortable.

If you’d like to make an impact directly in your organisation, we also offer the TalkLife Workplace Ambassador Program. As an Ambassador, you’ll be at the forefront of a growing movement for employee wellbeing in your own workplace.

Becoming a Buddy on TalkLife Workplace

TalkLife Workplace buddies are users who have trained with us to be a peer supporter on the platform. Being a buddy means becoming a listening ear in our global communities. Here are some of the tasks you'd be performing:

  • Welcoming new people and ensuring we are a warm, supportive environment for those taking their first steps to talking and sharing
  • Commenting on posts and using your supportive skills to convey empathy and help people feel heard
  • Setting up your own rooms on TalkLife Workplace and helping people feel connected with each other
  • Offering one-to-one buddy support to someone who is struggling

Becoming an Ambassador in your organisation

TalkLife Workplace Ambassadors are employees who step up and advocate for employee wellbeing in their own organisation and help guide colleagues who feel lonely and isolated towards TalkLife Workplace. Here are some of the tasks you'd be performing:

  • Building a team of five colleagues who are passionate about wellbeing
  • Creating and delivering your own engagement missions from workplace events to online campaigns to promote TalkLife Workplace
  • Representing TalkLife Workplace in your organisation, becoming a recognised voice in employee wellbeing

Volunteer training

As a TalkLife Workplace volunteer, you'll get an introductory call and receive full training before starting your duties. You will also get access to a volunteer Slack group and receive continuous support from our internal team and other volunteers. You will also get monthly clinical supervision where you can meet other buddies from around the globe.

Please note volunteering and wellbeing services are very different responsibilities and we do not expect you to act as a counselor or deal with crisis situations. If you come across a crisis situation, we would only expect you to flag it to our professional team who will escalate it if needed.

“I've enjoyed my experience as a Buddy because I'm a person who wants to help and put a smile on someone else's face if possible.”
WarriorCat, 25
